Senior Engineering Manager

Salary: £70,000 – £75,000 + 15% bonus + company-wide benefits
A leading manufacturing business based in Cardiff is entering an exciting phase of growth, with significant investment planned through 2026 following a strong period of expansion and capital investment over the last 18 months.
To support this journey, the business is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to take ownership of engineering performance, reliability, and structure within a highly automated manufacturing environment.
The Role:
This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong focus on engineering excellence, reliability, and continuous improvement. You will be responsible for developing engineering and technical teams while embedding best-in-class maintenance and performance frameworks across the site.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing strong, visible leadership to engineering and technical teams
* Implementing and embedding Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) strategies
* Coaching teams and driving the effective use of OEE frameworks to improve asset performance
* Developing and executing reliability and improvement strategies across the site
* Driving continuous improvement initiatives using recognised CI frameworks
* Embedding 5S and structured ways of working across engineering functions
* Supporting capital investment projects and automation improvements
* Building structure, governance, and accountability within engineering operations
* Working closely with operations, production, and senior leadership teams
About You:
You will be a confident, hands-on engineering leader with a proven track record of delivering performance improvements in automated manufacturing environments.
Key requirements:
* Proven experience in a Senior Engineering Manager or Engineering Manager role
* Strong background in highly automated or complex manufacturing environments
* Demonstrable experience implementing TPM and OEE frameworks
* Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop engineering and technical teams
* Strong understanding of reliability engineering and asset performance
* Experience working within continuous improvement frameworks
* Hands-on experience embedding 5S and structured operational practices
* Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
