Interim Commercial Financial Analyst
Local Authority | Hybrid / Midlands | 6 Months | £400-£450 per day (Inside IR35)
A leading Local Authority in the Midlands is seeking an experienced Interim Commercial Financial Analyst to support a high-impact review to drive forward its commercial strategy.
In this pivotal role, you will play a hands-on part in enhancing the financial and operational performance of a services. You will lead on commercial data analysis, reporting and systems development-working closely with senior stakeholders to inform decision-making and support future service delivery models.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead on corporate data analytics and contribute to the development of a new database.
Analyse commercial and financial data across services to inform strategic planning.
Support business performance monitoring, capital project tracking, and the implementation of improved internal reporting.
Produce high-quality reports and insights for senior managers and elected members.
Promote commercial awareness and improve data processes across the organisation.
Deliver projects aimed at validating results and standardising reporting across multiple service areas.
Essential skills
Strong background in data analysis and commercial finance-ideally gained within local government or a large public sector setting.
Confident using complex financial systems (Oracle experience preferred) and Excel-based tools for data manipulation and insight.
Able to work with large data sets and translate technical findings into clear, actionable outputs.
Effective communicator with experience presenting financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
High integrity with a commitment to managing confidential commercial data responsibly.
