Overview

A patient safety partner (PSP) is actively involved in the design of safer healthcare at all levels in the organisation. Your main role will be to work with us to ensure that we prioritise the safety requirements of our patients thereby maximising the things that go right and minimising the things that go wrong for people receiving our services.

Responsibilities

* Participate and join key conversations and meetings within the Trust that address patient safety. Attend patient safety meetings and committees.
* Committee(s)/meetings may require face-to-face attendance or online participation; the PSP must be comfortable with either approach.
* Challenge the way we work and act as a critical friend, providing a questioning approach to information shared at committees and meetings.
* Represent the patient’s/family voice, ensuring committee/meeting members are "walking in the patient’s shoes".
* Co-design the development of patient safety initiatives.
* Comply with relevant policies and maintain confidentiality. Work alongside the Trust’s clinical and non-clinical staff to inform and influence decisions on services. Become a member of committees, work with project teams, consult on policy, and contribute learning to provide an independent perspective that enriches and supports the best patient experience. Involves involvement in a wide range of activities and programmes, potentially taking on several different roles while in the work, contributing to improved governance and leadership within the Trust.
