Job Title: Field Service Engineer Location: Droitwich Hours: Monday to Friday – Days 40 hours per week Salary: £20 an hour Overtime The role of the Field Service Engineer: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join our Service team. This role involves carrying out warranty repairs and servicing on recovery vehicles, covering hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems. You will work both on-site at customer premises and within our workshops, ensuring all vehicles are repaired to the highest standard of safety, reliability, and performance. In addition to hands-on repair work, you will support the Service Team by providing technical expertise, diagnosing complex faults, and delivering exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer Carry out field-based and workshop repairs on recovery vehicles, including hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, and electrical systems. Perform servicing, inspections, and preventive maintenance in line with manufacturer and company standards. Diagnose faults quickly and accurately, including multi-system issues. Conduct inspections, testing, adjustments, stripping, fitting, and component replacements. Carry out electrical fault-finding and repairs, including wiring, lighting, and control systems. Work efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality workmanship. Provide clear communication and technical support to customers and colleagues. Work independently with minimal supervision, particularly at roadside or customer premises. What we’re looking for from a Field Service Engineer Qualified HGV, Plant Technician (or proven track record in a similar role). Strong mechanical background with expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems. Proven experience working with HGVs. Class 1 licence desirable (not essential). Ability to work independently and use initiative. Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
