Construction Buyer This challenging and exciting opportunity requires a purchasing or buying professional from the construction, building, housebuilding or civil engineering sectors. This Construction Buyer position is based from our client’s Doncaster office. You will be supporting all buying, procurement and logistics aspects for multiple sites and projects throughout the UK, from enquiry stage through to timely delivery of plant, resources, materials and equipment. The Role * Follow contract programmes and ensure timely provision of specified equipment and supplies on multiple sites * Adapt quickly and efficiently to fluctuating project gramme requirements * Ensure arrangements are in place to transport plant and site equipment from and to each project * Appraise potential suppliers and sub-contractors * Negotiate on price ethically and appropriately * Raise and manage purchase orders * Chase scheduled deliveries by liaising with suppliers * Track on-hire reports and collection of off-hired items * Monitor supplier performance * Update transport ledgers on a weekly basis and assist as appropriate with KPI data * Maintain hired plant location sheets updated on a weekly basis * Ensure certification of plant is up to date, appropriately stored and renewed as required * Provide service and support to contracts teams in meeting their needs * Provide support to Estimators with acquiring quotes, and offering supplier and material recommendations * Maintain a good relationship with all internal departments and external site teams * Obtain quotes and negotiate prices for goods and services ensuring value for money * Ensure delivery of goods and services are within budget for each project * Check and manage invoices, whilst maintaining and adhering to internal procedures The Person * Demonstrable experience in buying or purchasing position within any area of the construction, building, housebuilding or civil engineering sector * Good commercial awareness and be organised by nature * Able to use your own initiative and work cohesively in a team environment * Confident, and have excellent, assured communication skills both verbally and written * Adapt and amend workload priorities in a regularly changing environment * Excellent IT skills, with a positive and friendly attitude * Organised and efficient and self-sufficient with minimal supervision required * Possess good negotiating skills * Possess an ability to meet deadlines and work on your own initiative * Able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders * Flexible in being able to undertake different tasks that may conflict on your time * Value integrity, teamwork, excellence and respect in others Our Client Our client is an established and reputable construction, civil engineering and infrastructure contracting company operating on a nationwide basis.
