The Senior Risk Manager is a senior role to provide effective oversight, insight and support to senior business leaders across the Connells Group.
You will act as a trusted business partner, building strong relationships with stakeholders across the Group and engaging specific areas of the Group.
In addition you will work as part of the Enterprise Risk team to ensure that risk is managed in line with the Group’s risk appetite, and will support embedding a proactive risk culture, and to support informed risk- based decision-making.
The role demands an experienced operational / enterprise risk manager with strong industry knowledge of estate agency, surveying, valuations and other property services, and central functions that power the Connells Group.
The role will report into the Head of Enterprise Risk and will be required to work independently and as part of a team to provide effective challenge.
Responsibilities:
* Ensure risks are identified, assessed and managed within all Group entities through facilitated assessments where required
* Check that appropriate controls are put in place and their effectiveness is reviewed regularly
* Undertake risk and control assessments to identify, assess and monitor risks for specific areas of the business
* Produce reporting to support specific risk assessments and risk analysis, and contribute to reporting to subsidiary boards, functional management meetings, and Executive Board, and Audit & Risk Committee
* Navigate and build relationships across the Connells Group, building trust and understanding of the importance of effective risk management to ensure a strong risk management culture
* Keep abreast of industry best practice and developments in risk management
* Assess the potential financial and non-financial impact of identified risks, with a strong fact-base and ensure appropriate mitigation plans are developed
* Cross function collaboration with 2nd line functions including Compliance, Risk, and Data Protection, and with business areas across the Estate Agency, and Lettings businesses
* Support on specific activities to the Head of Enterprise Risk
Experience required:
* Sound knowledge and experience of 2nd line risk management or 1st line business controls activities
* Proven ability to lead risk assessments, and arrive at risk-based conclusions and recommendations
* Experience at developing and enhancing risk frameworks
* Experience of managing or implementing risk frameworks, ideally in a Financial Services environment.
* Deep knowledge of industry best practice in relation to risk management tools and techniques
* Strong reporting experience, providing concise and insightful reports and updates in a clear and precise manner whilst ensuring a commercial approach is maintained
* Strong understanding of regulatory requirements relating to operational risk and other risk disciplines (FCA) including SYSC, Conduct Risk, TCF, UK GDPR, industry scheme rules
