We are currently working in partnership with a well-respected local authority based in West Sussex, who are currently recruiting for a Homelessness Prevention Officer on a temporary three-month basis. The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis, with the hourly rate negotiable depending on experience. This is a HYBRID role with a possibility of 3 days working from home. The ideal candidate will be familiar with legal framework surrounding homeless assistance, specifically with regards to section 184 and 202 decisions. Duties will include (but are not limited to): Manage a caseload of 30 clients Help with initial applications and oversee initial applications. Provide housing advice and carry out decision 184s regarding eligibility and suitability for temporary/ emergency accommodation Interview clients who are either homeless or at threat of becoming homeless, both in the office, in public or in their own homes Arrange and secure suitable accommodation for homeless people in often very challenging circumstances Process Section 202 reviews Skills, knowledge and experience required: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Good organisational and time management skills Experience making section 184 decisions and creating PHPs. Ability to resolve conflict effectively, assertively explaining solutions to reach a desirable outcome. Working hours : 37 hours per week Monday - Thursday 08:45 to 17:15 Friday 08:45 -16:15 Please note that you require recent experience to apply for this role.
