Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience in Neurodevelopment Paediatrics/ Safeguarding. The post is suitable for senior residents/ post CCT clinicians to further expand their experience in this area. Applicants wishing to work part time should also apply. The appointee will join a team of Consultant Paediatricians and seven SASG doctors working in the fields of Neurodevelopment, Social and Educational Paediatrics and Safeguarding. The team works across North Mersey (Liverpool, Knowsley, North and South Sefton). The clinical work will be carried out mainly in one patch working closely with a patch consultant. The applicant will get an opportunity to get experience in management of children with complex needs and also to develop an area of interest. The trainee will also get experience in Safeguarding in our specialist safeguarding unit. Advert Clinical Duties: - Share with the Community Consultant, clinical responsibility for assessing referrals from Primary Care, other consultants within the Trust, Child Mental Health and Social Services/Education. The postholder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team. Clinical work will be particularly around: - - vulnerable children - developmental delay - assessment and management of children with neurodevelopmental disorders/neurodisability - assessment and diagnosis of ADHD and ASD working jointly with ADHD/ASD specialist nurse - behavioural problems, to assess whether there are underlying developmental aetiologies - Children to be reviewed in the Looked after service Child Protection The post holder will provide first on call daytime on call cover for the safeguarding unit and will be given an opportunity to be involved in first on-call out of hours cover in 1:6 rota over weekends. The consultant of the week will provide support, advice and supervision. This will be divided into : 6 hours: Provision will be given to the Fellow to pursue a special interest– subject to availability within that team. This may include attendances at other specialty clinics, pursuing independent learning in a particular area. Examples of such activity may include developing an interest in safeguarding, neuromuscular disease or spasticity, but many other options are available. Services available include Neurology, Palliative care, CAMHS and many others. Alder Hey is able to provide these opportunities and once decided the Clinical Lead for will negotiate this aspect of the job plan as required. 34 hours: This involves Neurodevelopment/complex needs clinics, Assessment of children with social communication difficulties, Assessment clinics for Children in care and 2 days first on call daytime cover for Rainbow. The role involves working with multidisciplinary teams, liaison with other agencies, providing medical advice to education, review of children on sleep medications and joint multidisciplinary assessments. There is also currently a weekend on call covering the safeguarding unit 1 in 6 weekends ( 9am- 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday) OPD clinics (3/week) Cover with safeguarding team Research, Audit and Teaching Initial Health assessment Statutory clinics The job plan is subject to review with the Clinical Director, with any changes being agreed with the postholder. Remuneration for this post will be on the appropriate point on the Training Doctor pay scale and out of hours banding will be as per trust protocol.
