The Rail Delivery Group is looking for a Senior Project Manager with recent rail industry experience and an in-depth understanding of the industry landscape and challenges. The successful candidate’s initial assignment will be to deliver the roll out of a Passenger Information System to UK stations following a successful trial in 2024‑2025.
What you’ll do
* Planning what work needs to be done, when and who will do it;
* Looking at the risks involved in a project and managing these risks;
* Motivating people involved in the project;
* Co‑ordinating work done by different people, ensuring the work meets the agreed standard;
* Working with multiple third‑party suppliers;
* Ensuring the project runs on time and to budget;
* Dealing with changes to the project as and when necessary;
* Driving the project to deliver expected outcomes and benefits;
* Working to the RDG Project Delivery Framework and ensuring others do too.

Requirements
* Knowledge / experience of work on infrastructure / engineering or manufacturing projects;
* Experience of working with equipment installations / surveyors / progressing landlord consents / site inspections;
* Experience of managing delivery via third‑party suppliers;
* Understanding of various types of contracts;
* Experience of scope definition and managing project scope and changes;
* Preparing estimates and detailed project plans for all phases of the project;
* Procuring adequate resources to achieve project objectives within planned timeframes;
* Managing project budgets and cost control;
* Managing risk, including applying a range of risk management techniques;
* Experience in managing external resources, including third‑party contracts and procurement;
* Managing quality and participating in quality issue resolution;
* Managing all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure an overall programme is aligned with strategic objectives;
* Understanding interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs.
