About the Role
We are looking for a talented and ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor with team‑leading skills who is dedicated to providing an excellent service. The role involves leading a range of construction projects, supervising the work of Quantity Surveyors, Assistants and Trainees, and acting as the principal point of contact with the project client and design consultants.
Responsibilities
* Take the lead on construction projects and supervise the team to fulfil their potential.
* Act as the principal point of contact with the project client and other consultants on the design team.
* Serve as the line manager for the team, handling HR requirements and expectations.
* Work independently and take responsibility for the successful delivery of Gateley RJA’s QS/PM services on all projects.
* Manage allocated Key Client Accounts, build relationships with Key Clients, ensure complete satisfaction, and nurture new work opportunities.
* Train and assist others, including preparing and presenting in‑house CPD events.
* Actively seek new project opportunities and promote the services of the practice and wider group at networking and marketing events.
* Act as Employer's Agent on Design and Build projects and Contract Administrator on Traditional projects.
* Follow the company Quality Environmental Management System in the delivery of all services.
* Manage multiple projects simultaneously and develop excellent time‑management strategies.
* Treat all clients to an exceptional level of service.
* Complete a minimum of 20 hours of Continuing Professional Development every year.
Qualifications
* BScl in Quantity Surveying, Construction Cost Management or a related field.
* Ideally, a Chartered member of the RICS, or a commitment to achieve Chartered status within 2 years of starting at RJA.
* Extensive experience in running own projects as a Quantity Surveyor and/or Project Manager from a consultancy background.
* Proficiency in measurement, ideally using CostX Measurement Software.
* Experience in running large, complex projects independently.
* Strategically minded with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Experience in managing a team, with strong line‑management skills.
* Skilled negotiator.
* Driving licence and own car; willingness to travel to sites across the UK as required.
