This 12-month fixed term contract/secondment offers an exciting opportunity to join the Governance Support Unit and play a key role in strengthening quality, safety, and learning across the Division. As Quality Governance Facilitator, the post holder will work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical teams, supporting the Quality Governance Matron to drive forward the clinical governance and public involvement agenda. The role is central to improving clinical practice, reducing risk, and enhancing patient experience.

The post holder will contribute to all aspects of divisional risk management, including clinical incidents, complaints, learning from deaths, and the wider Trust Quality Improvement programme. They will help embed meaningful learning, promote a positive and open culture, and support teams to implement sustainable changes that improve safety and outcomes.

Working closely with the Divisional Governance Matron, the role will support the development of robust assurance processes aligned with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework, PSIRP, CQC requirements, and ICB quality standards.

Collaboration will be key, with strong links to divisional leadership teams, the Deputy Director of Quality & Governance, and fellow Quality Governance Facilitators. Together, you will champion high-quality care, share best practice, and foster a culture where staff feel empowered to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate services.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Educated to master's degree level or equivalent in risk or governance or equivalent experience
* Clinical Professional Qualification


Experience

* Managing patient safety, Clinical Governance, or risk within a large / complex NHS organisation
* Presenting information to committees and senior management
* Demonstrable previous success in leading and delivering change and performance with and through clinical teams
* Staff and team leadership skills
* Achievement of challenging deadlines whilst maintaining quality and professional standard
* Adverse incident reporting including data capture, trend analysis and identification of system/process changes to reduce risk
* Dealing with serious incidents / complaints process changes to reduce risk
* Experience of dealing with service wide policy implementation or change management projects
* Experience of working in a complex changing environment and the ability to prioritise


Knowledge and Skills

* Detailed knowledge of governance and risk management & assurance as implemented within the NHS and the NHS Assurance processes
* Understanding of the quality standards applicable to the NHS (e.g.: CQC / FT / -, commissioner requirements)
* Proven ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions to address them.
* Knowledge of legislation and standards relating to health & safety, security, complaints, claims and incidents
* FT Compliance Standards
* Risk Management systems and standards
* Experience and knowledge of current approaches to SI management, evidence and awareness of Safeguarding
* Good understanding of information analysis, techniques and tools and the ability to present concepts clearly
* Demonstrate the ability to interpret national and local guidance and develop practical solutions to meet requirements
* Excellent written skills to produce formal, informal and technical documents/material to meet delivery needs
* Quality Improvement, infection control, pressure ulcer review, falls, sepsis
