Harness Design Engineer (Space Systems)
Location: Stevenage (Hybrid - 2 days per week onsite)
Contract Duration: 12 Months
Security Clearance: SC Eligible (BPSS considered for candidates with strong Space/Defense backgrounds)
We are seeking a highly skilled System Engineer (Electrical Harness) to take central responsibility for the Spacecraft Harness work package throughout Phases B, C, and D of major space programs. You will serve as the primary technical lead, coordinating between customers, internal engineering teams, and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
1. End-to-End Design: Define functional and physical electrical wiring, including functional channels, cable lists, and electrical diagrams (block/wiring).
2. Requirements Management: Analyze mission requirements and cascade them into technical harness specifications.
3. Technical Analysis: Perform or coordinate critical analyses including voltage drop, cable/connector derating, and mass estimation.
4. Supplier Management: Lead co-engineering activities with suppliers, ensuring 'On Time, On Quality, On Cost' (OTOQOC) delivery of hardware and documentation.
