The Role
We are seeking a dedicated, caring, and proactive SEN Lunchtime Supervisor to support pupils with a range of special educational needs during the lunchtime period. This role is vital in ensuring that pupils feel safe, supported, and included during what can be a challenging part of the school day. You will work closely with teaching staff, SEN support staff, and other lunchtime supervisors to maintain a calm, structured, and positive lunchtime environment.
Key Responsibilities

Provide consistent supervision and targeted support to pupils with SEN during lunchtime, including in the dining hall, playground, and indoor areas
*
Support pupils with eating, drinking, and managing routines, including encouraging independence where appropriate
*
Assist pupils with social interaction, communication, and play, promoting positive relationships with peers
*
Manage behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour and SEN policies, using positive behaviour strategies
*
Support pupils with emotional regulation and respond appropriately to individual needs or sensory sensitivities
*
Ensure pupils’ safety and wellbeing at all times, including monitoring risks and following safeguarding procedures
*
Communicate effectively with teaching staff and SEN teams regarding any concerns or incidents
*
Support pupils with personal care where required, in a respectful and dignified manner
*
Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and structured lunchtime environment
Requirements
*
A minimum of 6 months’ experience working in schools in the UK (essential)
*
Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (essential)
*
An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one (essential)
*
A patient, empathetic, and caring approach to working with children
*
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
*
Ability to remain calm, professional, and proactive in a busy school environment
*
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
