Personal Assistant
Personal Assistant for 4-8 hours per week supporting a 19-year-old young man in Bedford MK42 area.
Hours per week: 4-8 hours per week.
Location – Bedford, MK42.
Hourly Rate £13.28 per hour.
Hours per week 6-8 hours – 4 hours per week Term Time and 8 hours per week in School Holidays. Preferably at the weekend.
Someone enthusiastic to support and encourage a 19-year-old young man to access the community, keep active with walking and visiting local parks, looking in shops, swimming, fun fair, trampoline, bowling, or going out to eat. To get to know his way of communicating, his choices and wishes, with respect at all times.
To always be patient and engage, he has Autism and Learning Disabilities, by letting him go at his own time and speed so he can adjust to his environment. To recognise when to step in and support him, and show him how to complete the activity in the community.
The PA needs to be someone who remains calm if there are unexpected challenges and remains quiet, confident and able to take action where necessary to resolve the situation safely.
Required Training
* Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of vulnerable people
* Experience of working in a caring role
* Good verbal communication skills
* Good understanding of epilepsy or willing to learn
* Good personable skills
* Understanding of Health & Safety issues
