HMP Five Wells in Wellingborough is setting a new standard for new build prisons of the future, using forward-thinking design and technology. The Prison is the UK’s first purpose-built, new resettlement Prison. After opening in 2022 it is a one of a kind new generation category C new build Prison for the future and has become an integral part of the local community. G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) already successfully manages 4 prisons, one secure training centre and a number of community contracts in England and Wales. The philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe. We are looking for a Deputy Head of FM to join our FM team to oversee the Facilities Management Services across HMP Five Wells. Reporting to the Head of FM, you will be responsible for managing and developing the delivery of a diverse range of FM services to meet both the operational and contractual requirements, ensuring service level agreements are adhered, meeting all statutory, mandatory and maintenance requirements in line with the Authority established baselines and contractual obligations. To succeed in this role, you will be a dynamic and engaging individual, who shares our ethics and values. A proven manager, you will have the attention to detail necessary to deliver an effective and compliant facilities management service on a 24/7 basis. It is key that you have the flexibility to deal with the ever-changing demands of a dynamic environment where the requirement to maintain a safe and decent environment is constant. Coaching, supporting and motivating your team is an essential requirement in order to deliver this service to meet customer, commercial and contractual requirements. Some Of The Key Responsibilities Of This Role Are To manage resources to meet daily maintenance schedules. To manage reactive maintenance tasks. Responsible for ensuring all tasks are completed and records provided accordingly. To liaise with the operational prison staff and provide advice and knowledge regarding service issues. To liaise with Sub Contractors over the service and maintenance of assets located across the site, ensuring records are kept up to date and available for inspection/audit. To lead and develop skilled teams to meet operational and business needs in a timely manner. To support the team in continually reviewing operational procedures to ensure maximum operational effectiveness. Develop & support positive team ethos within FM working group To ensure that all work is carried out safely, efficiently and to a high standard. To ensure that all tools or stores items including consumables eg drill bits, hack saw blades etc are accounted for at all times. To demonstrate the ability to work under own initiative with minimum supervision. To be flexible and assist with any tasks required to be completed by the Facilities Department. To ensure that the Facilities Department, areas of work and stores are kept in a clean, tidy and safe condition at all times. As a contractual requirement of the role, you must be able to demonstrate that you have a recognised trade qualification.
