September 2025
Are you an Early Career Teacher (ECT) ready to start your teaching journey in September 2025? Or are you looking to gain further classroom experience through flexible, short-term work before committing to a long-term post?
Teaching Personnel is proud to be working closely with a network of secondary schools across Portsmouth, who are seeking enthusiastic, newly qualified educators to join their teams. Whether you’re looking for your first full-time teaching role or hoping to build your confidence through day-to-day supply work, we can help you find the right opportunity to suit your goals.
This is an ideal chance for PGCE graduates to explore different school environments and refine their teaching style, while building experience and professional connections. Through Teaching Personnel, you’ll be supported by a dedicated local consultant who understands the local education landscape and can guide you as you navigate the early stages of your career.
We offer a range of flexible and rewarding roles for ECTs, including:
Ad-hoc daily supply - Step into a variety of classrooms across Portsmouth on a day-to-day basis. This is a great way to experience different teaching environments, develop confidence and gain broad experience.
Short to medium-term cover - Take on general classroom supervision or teach your subject specialism in a supportive setting. These placements can last several weeks and help build strong relationships with schools.
Long-term teaching roles - Join a school for a full term or academic year. These roles include planning and marking responsibilities and offer full induction support – ideal for those ready to begin their formal ECT year.
Pathways to permanent positions - Many teachers start with short-term or supply work and go on to secure permanent roles in the same schools. This approach gives you and the school time to find the right fit.
Flexible working options - Choose work that fits around your availability. Whether you’re seeking full-time teaching or occasional days to build experience, we can support your preferences.
Cover teaching roles without planning/marking - If you’re looking to focus on classroom delivery without the added pressure of planning and assessment, we offer roles that allow you to concentrate purely on teaching.
Full-teaching responsibility posts - For those eager to jump into a traditional teaching role, we also have positions that include full planning, delivery, and marking duties—an excellent start to your professional journey.
