Plymouth City Council Building Control are looking for an experienced and motivated Principal Registered Building Inspectors to join our dynamic Local Authority Building Control (LABC) team. About the Role
As a Principal Registered Building Inspector, you’ll play a crucial part in shaping the built environment across Plymouth and promoting the city’s growth. Your work will involve:
• Inspecting and managing all types of commercial building projects — from innovative office spaces to complex mixed-use developments.
• Supervising, mentoring, and supporting a team of Building Control professionals to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service.
• Ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and promoting excellence across all projects.
• Leading on complex applications and providing expert technical guidance to clients, architects, and contractors.
• Representing Plymouth City Council at professional meetings and working closely with partner organisations.

About You
• You must be a Registered Building Inspector at Class 2 (A-F) or 3H (or be eligible to achieve this).
• Significant experience working on complex commercial projects.
• Leadership, mentoring, and supervisory skills.• Excellent knowledge of Building Regulations and associated legislation.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and strong communication skills.
