Your Role
Kuehne + Nagel is seeking to appoint a Road Transport Supervisor to work within a small but dedicated team at HMNB Portsmouth. The key responsibilities will be to ensure the transport department operates in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner, fully adhering to all legislation. This includes controlling fleet servicing, MOTs, vehicle breakdowns, and vehicle records in compliance with O Licence Conditions, tasking drivers and assets to meet delivery schedules, and delivering a first-class service to our customers within budget. The post will also be responsible for the compliant movement of ADR products, Classes 1 to 9, including 7x accepted packages and Non-ADR goods as required.
Your Responsibilities
* Control transport resources at HMNB Portsmouth.
* Supervise drivers under your line management.
* Manage up to 12 employees and 25 assets at HMNB Portsmouth.
* Ensure compliance with company and legislative requirements.
* Foster a culture of improvement and team effectiveness to ensure strong team spirit and good morale.
* Promote effective, positive communication with colleagues, other supervisors, managers, and customers to achieve service levels.
* Ensure all health and safety obligations are met, providing a legal and safe working environment that exceeds quality standards.
* Take responsibility for health and safety, observing best practices and legislation related to environmental protection and energy conservation.
* Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports in line with management and company requirements.
* Compile and submit accurate daily data information for internal and external customers promptly.
* Support the Transport Manager in continuous improvement projects and tactical initiatives to enhance efficiency.
* Report and investigate accidents/incidents within contracted timelines.
Your Skills and Experiences
* Full UK Driver's License and LGV C+E (Essential).
* Proven transport knowledge and experience, with working knowledge of transport legislation.
* Experience with the TruTac system.
* Proven track record in fleet compliance, including maintenance, MOTs, servicing, and breakdowns.
* Ability to update and maintain vehicle records in TruTac.
* Flexible leadership style with the ability to motivate staff to achieve results.
* Numerate with good attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Proven people management skills and experience.
