Salary: £46,049 to £58,225 per annum pro‑rate depending on skills and experience.

Position Overview
The Omnifactory Research Centre (OmniRC), within the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing (IfAM), requires an experienced and skilled Senior Manufacturing Research Engineer. The successful candidate will join a world‑leading research team in advanced manufacturing, robotics, digitalisation and factory automation. Our friendly and inclusive team sits within the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing at the University of Nottingham. The role holder will become part of the team responsible for Omnifactory and will be working in this state‑of‑the‑art national manufacturing facility for data‑driven manufacturing.
Responsibilities
* Apply engineering skills to develop, design, manufacture, commission, and test novel manufacturing systems.
* Lead all aspects of system development including requirements capture, problem structuring, business case development, mechanical design, simulation, system integration, test design, data capture and analysis, and reporting.
* Take an active role in developing and improving the team’s technical knowledge and expertise.
* Implement and manage complex industrial research projects and provide support and supervision to team members.
* Work closely with researchers at Nottingham and collaborate with leading industrial partners such as Airbus, BAE Systems, GKN, Rolls‑Royce and Siemens.
Working Hours and Conditions
Regular hours are 36.25 hours per week. Part‑time work (minimum 29 hours per week) is encouraged; specify the preferred hours in your application. Job share arrangements may also be considered. This is a fixed‑term vacancy until 31 October 2026.
