Engineering Director – Technology Strategy & Delivery
Location: Central London (Hybrid – 2 days per week)
Salary: £120,000–£140,000 + Bonus + Benefits
We’re seeking an exceptional Engineering Director to lead and deliver complex technology initiatives across a diverse portfolio of partners and internal programmes. This role blends strategic technology leadership with hands-on engineering expertise, ideal for someone comfortable moving between high-level architecture and deep technical problem-solving.
You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders (CTOs, COOs, and Heads of Engineering) to define scalable technology strategies, drive delivery performance, and ensure engineering excellence across multiple teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and execute technology strategies that enable growth, scalability, and innovation across multiple business domains.
* Lead design, delivery, and governance of engineering programmes — ensuring best practices in architecture, DevOps, and software delivery.
* Stay hands-on with technology — contributing to POCs, reviewing code, and validating complex technical solutions.
* Build and mentor high-performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence.
* Partner with stakeholders to translate technical goals into measurable business outcomes.
* Support business development and delivery assurance, ensuring projects meet quality, timeline, and budget expectations.
About You
* Proven experience in technology leadership roles within consulting, fintech, or high-growth tech environments.
* Strong technical background in modern engineering (cloud architecture, DevOps, microservices, data platforms, and application modernization).
* Hands-on experience in Python, Java, or similar; confident diving into code and leading POCs.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence and communicate with C-suite leaders.
* Experience managing distributed engineering teams and driving delivery performance across multiple projects.
* Strong problem-solving mindset with commercial awareness and delivery focus
