Department: SHEQ & Growth
Location: Borehamwood
Key Responsibilities
You’ll act as a trusted SHEQ partner to operational teams across a variety of Power and Electrical projects, helping to maintain high standards of safety, compliance and environmental performance throughout delivery. Working closely with site teams, management and contractors, you’ll provide practical guidance and support while promoting a proactive and positive safety culture across the business. The role will involve carrying out site inspections, audits and investigations, ensuring compliance with company procedures, client requirements and UK legislation. You’ll support the reporting and investigation of incidents and near misses, produce detailed reports and root‑cause analysis documentation, and help drive continuous improvement initiatives across operational activities. As a senior member of the SHEQ team, you’ll also provide coaching and mentoring to operational staff and supervisors, helping teams embed best practice and maintain safe working environments across live project sites, including within DNO and IDNO environments.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
You’ll have previous experience working as a Senior SHEQ Advisor within Utilities, Construction or Civil Engineering, with strong exposure to Power sector projects and operational environments. A strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation, incident investigation and compliance management is essential, alongside experience supporting projects within DNO or IDNO frameworks. You’ll hold an NCRQ Level 6, NVQ Level 6, NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification, alongside EUSR or CSCS Health & Safety certification and a full UK Driving Licence. We’re looking for someone with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, who can confidently engage with operational teams at all levels. You should be highly organised, capable of managing multiple priorities and comfortable producing clear technical reports, investigations and SHEQ documentation. Strong IT skills across Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams are also required.
