A well-established Lancaster-based company is looking to recruit a Payroll & Accounts Administrator. This role will report to the Financial Controller and will ensure all HMRC deadlines are met, returns are completed, and will support daily HR and administrative tasks across the business.
This is a busy and interesting role where no two days are the same. Duties will include:
1. Manage all aspects of one weekly and two monthly payrolls using Sage Payroll software.
2. Enter hours, expenses, mileage claims, and maintain payroll pay scales to ensure all payments are accurate and timely.
3. Complete relevant HMRC paperwork and ensure submissions are made on time.
4. Maintain nominal coding in automated interfaces from Sage Payroll into Sage 200.
5. Participate in projects to develop payroll processes and databases, taking a lead on identifying improvements and implementing changes.
6. Stay updated with developments in payroll rules and regulations and contribute to their implementation.
7. Perform bi-annual audits of employee expenses.
8. Ensure smooth closing of weekly payroll ledgers.
9. Reconcile payroll control accounts monthly in line with Management Accounts reporting timetable.
10. Ensure all wage deductions are paid to relevant bodies on time, such as pensions, court orders, CSA, unions, and charities.
This role is suitable for experienced candidates who prefer to work autonomously and have high attention to detail. The package includes a competitive salary (up to £30k), 23 days holiday, and on-site parking.
