About the opportunity

Are you a talented and ambitious individual looking to further your career in Reactor Physics?

Amentum is currently recruiting for a Reactor Physicist to perform complex technical analyses, deliver technical training, and support the theoretical development of our software and nuclear data products.

The nuclear industry is moving away from traditional reactor designs towards new small modular reactor (SMR) and advanced modular reactor (AMR) designs, with improved safety features and lower build costs. This role offers excellent opportunities for skill and experience development in physics, especially as applied to nuclear engineering, with potential leadership in technical developments and collaborations.

The role is based at our Dorchester office, with travel to client sites as needed. Remote and flexible working arrangements are also considered.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop mathematical and physical theories
2. Perform complex reactor physics analysis
3. Deliver technical training to specialists
4. Develop and refine theoretical models and simulations
5. Present results at technical meetings and conferences
6. Engage with the international academic community
7. Generate new business through interactions with international clients

Qualifications:

* Undergraduate degree in mathematics, physics, engineering, or related fields with a strong mathematical component
* Strong background in mathematical and physical theories and their implementation
* Programming skills in Fortran, Python, Java, or similar
* Innovative thinking and problem-solving skills to address complex technical challenges
* Self-motivated with a passion for nuclear physics
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively
