Specialist Committee Member (Quality Standards) - OCD & BDD

We are looking for professional specialist committee members with an interest in obsessive compulsive disorder and body dysmorphic disorder to join the Quality Standards Advisory Committee.
We are looking for the following:
* Psychologist with expertise in OCD and BDD in adults
* Mental health nurse with expertise in OCD and BDD
Please note: The position of specialist committee member is unpaid. NICE will pay reasonable out-of-pocket expenses, including train fares and hotel costs, when necessary, for attending in-person committee meetings.

Main duties of the job
Specialist committee members agree to:
* Set aside enough time to attend committee meetings and use their personal and professional knowledge to inform the development of the quality standard
* Raise any concerns about process or details in the draft quality standard with the committee and try to resolve these issues within the committee, with support from the NICE team
* Contribute positively to the work of the committee and to developing the quality standard
* Consider the analysis and interpretation of evidence prepared by the NICE team
* Act in a professional manner, show good manners and be courteous to colleagues and staff at all times (committee members should behave in a polite, efficient and respectful manner and without bias or favour, using the highest standards of conduct expected in public life and service while on NICE duty)
* Be impartial and honest in conducting their duties for NICE, use public funds entrusted to them to the best advantage of NICE, and avoid deliberately damaging the confidence of the public or stakeholders in NICE
* Read and adhere to NICE's Principles
* Act in a way that values equality, diversity, inclusion, dignity and respect.
* Read and adhere to NICE's policies on hospitality, declarations of interests and travel and subsistence.
About us
Remuneration: Currently the position of specialist committee members is unpaid. However, NICE will pay reasonable out-of-pocket expenses, including train fares and hotel costs, when necessary, for attending committee meetings as set out in NICE's non-staff reimbursement policy. NICE recognises that in some circumstances individuals will need to arrange for carers or support workers to accompany them to a meeting, or to take over unpaid caring responsibilities while they are at a meeting - this includes childcare or care of a family member with a disability or other additional needs. The circumstances in which NICE can provide reimbursement for such costs are outlined in the non-staff reimbursement policy.
Time commitment: Specialist committee members are expected to attend two half day committee meetings during the quality standard development. Committee meetings will either take place virtually via Zoom, or in-person as a hybrid meeting at either our Manchester or London office. In addition to attending committee meetings a variety of other input is required from specialist committee members, for which an honorarium is not currently paid.
Job responsibilities
ROLE DESCRIPTION summary: Specialist committee members will work in collaboration with the wider committee and the NICE team to develop a quality standard.
Responsibilities:
* Attend two Quality Standards Advisory Committee meetings (in-person or virtual).
* Attend a short virtual meeting (30 minutes) with NICE quality standards team members prior to the first committee meeting.
* Read, review and comment on relevant material at key points during the development of the quality standard.
* Prioritise areas of care for which quality statements and measures should be developed.
* Work with the NICE team and the committee chair as required between meetings.
* Please note that deadlines may be tight, and documents may need to be reviewed with short turnaround times.
* Prepare for the committee meetings by reading the papers and by gathering any additional information on the proposed topics which may be helpful to the discussions.
* Consider consultation comments.
* Follow agreed decision-making procedures and accept the collective decisions of the committee.
* Be a champion for the quality standard after publication and undertake activities to promote endorsement of the quality standard.
Conditions: Attendance at two Quality Standards Advisory Committee meetings over a ten-month period. Preparation work for committee meetings and comment on the meeting outputs will also be required. The NICE team may also ask for additional input from specialist committee members near the time of publication.
Person Specification
Ability to contribute to the work of the advisory body
* Experience in health or social care (as appropriate), either as a practicing health or social care professional, or working in or in association with the wider aspects of health or social care or the healthcare industries
* Active registration with the appropriate professional body
* A license to practice
* An understanding of the social, political, economic and professional influences on NICE
Ability to understand and interpret multiple complex data sets
* Ability to gather data, analyse, critique and synthesise complex information, as evidenced by relevant experience and/or academic qualifications.
Nature of the motivation underpinning the application
* Clearly and persuasively stated reasoning for making an application.
