We are looking to recruit two motivated and professional pharmacytechnicians to join our expanding team at Collingwood Health Group. This is anexciting opportunity to become part of an established multi-disciplinary teamthat is passionate about providing high quality, standardised care for ourregistered population. The successful candidates will join the teamsupported by clinical pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
You will be required to enrol on the CPPE, Primary Care PharmacyEducation Pathway (if you haven't already). .
Main duties of the job Key responsibilities
Document processing - Safe and effective medication processing fromclinical documents, reconciling medications post-discharge and ensuringaccurate clinical records.
Repeat prescriptions - Work alongside pharmacy administrativeteam to ensure the processing and authorisation of repeat prescription requestsfalls in line with practice protocols and clinical guidelines
Medication safety - Identify and resolve medication related issues,ensure compliance with national and local prescribing
Patient Education - Provide advice on medication use, side effectsand adherence to treatment plans
Support Prescribers - work with clinical team to improve prescribingquality and manage high-risk medications
Data and Reporting - Assist with prescribing audits, data collectionand reporting for quality improvement initiatives.
About us Collingwood Health Group is a well-established and progressive general practice serving a patient population of approximately 24,500 patients across four locations. As a large, multi-site practice, we are committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
Our organisational structure is consists of a dedicated team of 10 General Practitioner (GP) Partners, supported by Salaried GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Community Practitioner, Physician Associate, Nursing Associates, Healthcare Assistants, and a Phlebotomist. In addition, we benefit from the expertise of an integrated pharmacy team, including Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, who play a vital role in supporting safe and effective prescribing and medication management.
This comprehensive clinical workforce is supported by a highly skilled, efficient, and well-coordinated administrative team, ensuring the smooth and effective operation of all aspects of the practice. Together, our multidisciplinary team is committed to providing exemplary care and continuously improving health outcomes for the communities we serve.
Job responsibilities The role focuses on supporting medicines management by acting as a liaison between general practice and community pharmacies, resolving or escalating medication-related issues. It involves communicating with patients and healthcare teams, supporting audits and reporting, contributing to policy development, and performing clinical duties under supervision. Tasks include medication reviews, reconciliation post-discharge, checking for interactions, supporting deprescribing, and ensuring adherence to guidelines. The role also includes mentoring junior staff, handling medication incidents, and using systems like SystmOne for data management.
Person Specification Qualifications BTEC in pharmaceutical science or NVQ Level 3 supported by appropriate underpinning knowledge e.g. BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences, NPA or equivalent qualification, plus specialist training and experience equivalent to degree level (or equivalent level of knowledge and / or experience)
Registered Pharmacy Technician with General Pharmaceutical Council.
Evidence of relevant continuing professional development.
Experience Experience of working with S1 clinical system
Previous relevant experience working in either a hospital, community or primary care pharmacy setting.
Previous experience of managing/supervising staff
Knowledge of the operation of pharmacy services
Skills Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Clear, polite telephone manner
Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
Effective time management (Planning & Organising)
Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to follow policy and procedure
