Empowering Learning has an exciting opportunity for a Support Worker at a SEN school in the Teesside area, supporting students aged 4 to 19 years. The role offers 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM hours, providing vital support in the classroom and community for students with PMLD, ASC, and SEMH.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide support to students with PMLD, ASC, and SEMH in both the classroom and the community
Assist with personal care, including feeding and changing
Support students on a 1-on-1 basis and in small group settings
Engage in sensory play activities and support with behaviours that challenge
Use Makaton (sign language system) and PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) to support communication
Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times
Work alongside the teaching team to create an inclusive learning environmentWhat We're Looking For:
Experience with personal care, feeding, and changing students
Trained in moving and handling
Ability to work 1-on-1 and in groups
Familiarity with Makaton and PECS (preferred)
Experience in sensory play and working with students exhibiting behaviours that challenge
Strong communication skills and a caring, patient approach
Relevant healthcare or teaching assistant (TA) qualifications
