Design Manager Major Infrastructure Project Location: London Type: Full-time, Permanent
Red Sky Personnel are recruiting on behalf of a leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractor delivering one of the UKs most high-profile infrastructure projects.
Were seeking an experienced Design Manager to take a key role in the coordination and assurance of complex design works, including major utilities diversions and multi-stakeholder enabling packages within a secure, regulated environment.
Role Overview Reporting to the Senior Design Manager, you will lead all aspects of the design process from concept through to detailed design and delivery. Youll ensure compliance with technical, safety, and project requirements, manage multi-disciplinary design teams, and coordinate with the client and stakeholders to achieve safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Manage design packages through all project stages: concept, scheme, and detailed design
Ensure designs are buildable, safe, and compliant with technical and project requirements
Oversee technical assurance and design verification processes
Coordinate with the design and construction teams, consultants, and subcontractors
Review and approve design submissions prior to client issue
Manage interfaces between design disciplines and adjacent contracts
Lead CDM risk reviews and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations
Drive collaboration, quality, and innovation within the design process
Technical Skills and Competencies Proven experience in design management within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
Experience working with utilities diversions or similar third-party assets preferred
Strong understanding of CDM regulations and design assurance processes
Proficient in Aconex, ProjectWise, AssetWise, or similar systems
Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams
Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related discipline (HNC/HND considered with strong experience)
Professional membership (e.g. ICE) desirable
Valid CSCS card
