About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Conveyancing Solicitor to join our clients growing Conveyancing team in Chelmsford. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated solicitor to manage a varied caseload of property matters while contributing to the continued success and growth of a well-established law firm.
The successful candidate will handle transactions from instruction through to completion, delivering exceptional client service and maintaining the highest professional standards. Typical matters will include freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, new build transactions, shared ownership and Help to Buy matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a full caseload of conveyancing files from inception to completion.
- Handle freehold and leasehold sales and purchases.
- Manage remortgages, transfers of equity, shared ownership, and new build transactions.
- Conduct title investigations and review title documentation.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and related legal documents.
- Raise and respond to pre-contract enquiries.
- Liaise with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, brokers, developers, and other solicitors.
- Ensure compliance with SRA regulations, AML requirements, and internal procedures.
- Provide clear, practical legal advice and regular updates to clients.
- Maintain high standards of client care and service delivery.
- Support junior team members through mentoring and supervision where appropriate.
- Participate in networking and business development activities to strengthen referral relationships and generate new work.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
- Minimum 2 years' PQE within conveyancing.
- Proven ability to independently manage a busy caseload.
- Strong technical knowledge of residential property law and Land Registry procedures.
- Excellent client care, communication, and organisational skills.
- Commercially aware with a proactive approach to business development.
- Strong attention to detail and risk management skills.
Desirable
- Existing local referrer network within Essex.
- Experience using modern case management systems such as LEAP, Proclaim, or similar.
