Job Description Summary The Metrologist is responsible for calibration activities within a UKAS-accredited laboratory in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards. This role involves operating the recall system for test equipment, drafting and maintaining calibration procedures, and ensuring the calibration of onsite test equipment. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities Operation of the UKAS-accredited laboratory in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards, ensuring all laboratory processes are documented and updated as necessary. Taking part in internal and external audits (UKAS assessment). Oversee the recall system for test equipment and calibration standards ensuring timely recall and recalibration of equipment. Draft and maintain calibration procedures for onsite test equipment. Ensuring procedures are aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Schedule and perform calibrations, document results, and maintain calibration records. Identify opportunities for process improvement within the metrology function. Implement changes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Stay abreast of advancements in metrology and calibration technologies. Liaise with internal stakeholders to understand their calibration and testing needs. Required Qualifications ONC or equivalent qualification Experience with ISO 17025 or other relevant standards Proficient in using calibration software and laboratory information management systems Ability to problem solve, find solutions with minimum support and supervision Ability to innovate, evolve and enhance processes Working knowledge of Microsoft Software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Proven ability to work to deadlines and respond effectively to demanding customer requests Demonstrate excellent communication skills Self-starter, energizing, results orientated and able to multi-task Desired Characteristics Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
