About the Role:
Prospero Teaching is excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join a secondary school in the Liverpool area. The role will be starting in January 2026, and you will have a vital role that involves classroom teaching, hands‑on kitchen management, and curriculum development, with a strong emphasis on safety, creativity, and student progress.
Design and Technology Teacher
Location: Liverpool, L6
Start Date: January 2026
Contract Type: Temporary, Long Term
Working Hours: Full-time, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Pay: Paid to scale
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver engaging lessons
2. Teach practical cooking skills, food preparation, nutrition, and food science
3. Adapt lessons for a wide range of abilities and learning needs
4. Provide clear demonstrations and structured activities
5. Mark work, give constructive feedback, and track pupil progress
6. Ensure all equipment is safe, clean, and ready for use
7. Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety
8. Supervise students closely during practical sessions to ensure safe working practices
Requirements:
9. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
10. Proven experience teaching in a UK secondary school.
11. Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable, but not essential as training can be provided).
12. Right to Work in the UK.
13. Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
14. Ability to provide references that cover at least 24 months worked and where possible 2 roles where you have worked with children
