Fleet Controller – Leighton Buzzard
We are looking for an experienced Fleet Controller to join our team.
Location: Leighton Buzzard. Full‑time position Monday to Friday with 1 in 5 Saturdays from 8am to 12pm. Salary up to £32,000.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinating planned maintenance and ensuring its efficient organisation and documentation using the fleet management platform.
- Managing vehicle breakdowns, liaising with workshops, service providers and ensuring fleet compliance with safety requirements.
- Recording all fleet maintenance activity accurately in the fleet management software for reporting and reference.
- Advising customers of any issues regarding fleet maintenance or breakdowns.
- Liaising with workshops, mobile and third‑party engineers to organise maintenance tasks and allocate engineers/service agents.
- Responding to telephone enquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Organising recovery services and replacement vehicles in the event of a breakdown.
What we’re looking for
- Confident personality with excellent interpersonal skills, able to manage challenging interactions with customers while maintaining a respectful, solution‑oriented approach.
- Experience in the HGV industry required; candidates with a background in the motor trade or servicing industry will also be considered.
- Ability to deal with demanding customers professionally and calmly, ensuring customer satisfaction even in challenging situations.
- High energy and results‑oriented, capable of tackling problems involving variables in non‑standardised situations.
- Proactive attitude, taking ownership of tasks and responsibilities without requiring continuous oversight.
