Are you a graduate looking to begin a career in teaching? The Future Teachers Programme in Manchester offers a structured two‑year route into the profession – starting with paid school‑based experience and leading directly into a salaried teacher training year.
About the Programme
Designed for graduates who want to explore the teaching profession before enrolling in formal training, this pathway provides hands‑on experience, mentoring, and a guaranteed progression into teacher training.
Year 1: Classroom Experience (Cover Supervisor Role)
* Work in a Manchester secondary school as a Cover Supervisor
* Supervise lessons using work already set by the class teacher
* Gain practical behaviour management and classroom confidence
* No responsibility for planning, marking, or active teaching
* Become familiar with school routines and policies
Year 2: Salaried Teacher Training
* Move into a fully salaried Initial Teacher Training (ITT) position
* Work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Train within the same school or trust for continuity and support
* Receive weekly mentoring and professional development
* Option to complete a PGCE alongside QTS

Requirements
* All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check – full assistance provided.
* All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
* All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
