Stoke-on-Trent Council is seeking two dedicated and proactive Elective Home Education Liaison Officers to support families who elect to home educate their children. This critical role ensures that children receiving education at home are provided with a suitable and efficient education. We have high ambitions for all our children and want them to thrive in every aspect of their life. This means that they are supported and empowered to achieve academically and socially to the best of their ability, and to have voice and influence in their lives and community. We want to ensure that they truly feel that they belong in Stoke. The successful applicants will have experience of working with children and young people in education settings, working with families and professionals with good knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework around EHE and Children Missing from Education. You will be responsible for gathering and assessing information from parents about the suitability of the education they are providing, offering practical advice in relation to teaching and learning strategies to ensure the EHE is suitable. You will work collaboratively, within the Access &Support Servicer for Vulnerable Learners, liaising closely with schools and other partners to provide well-rounded support for children and families. You will have excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset and the ability to build effective and positive relationships. You will have excellent record keeping skills, prepare high quality reports, make recommendations and referrals including in relation to safeguarding.
