Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior IT Manager to lead our technical team, oversee major projects, and drive continuous improvement across our service delivery. You'll be a hands-on leader, combining strategic vision with operational excellence, ensuring our clients get world-class IT infrastructure, security, and support.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor and grow a team of IT professionals (engineers, analysts, support staff), fostering collaboration, professional development, and high performance.
* Oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of IT systems, networks, infrastructure, and cloud environments ensuring high availability and scalability.
* Develop and enforce policies and processes around cybersecurity, data protection, backup & disaster recovery, compliance (e.g. GDPR), and risk management.
* Work with clients to understand their needs and translate them into reliable, cost-effective technical solutions.
* Manage multiple projects, ensuring they're delivered on time, on budget, and to agreed quality standards.
* Maintain proactive monitoring and incident management protocols; ensure fast resolution of issues, root cause analysis, and continuous refinement.
* Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends; evaluate opportunities to incorporate new tools and approaches that improve efficiency, security, and client satisfaction.
* Budgeting, resource planning and vendor management (hardware, software, services).
* Reporting to senior leadership: providing metrics, status updates, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations.
Requirements & Skills
* Proven experience (at least 5-7 years) in senior IT roles, with leadership of teams and management of complex infrastructure in a service or solutions environment.
* Strong technical background across systems, networks, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS or similar), cybersecurity, backup/disaster recovery.
* Hands-on experience with proactive monitoring tools, incident/problem management, and enforcing SLAs/uptime.
* Solid understanding of compliance, data protection laws (GDPR etc.), security frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001 / NIST), risk management.
* Excellent project management skills—able to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
* Strong communication & interpersonal skills: capable of explaining technical matters to non-technical stakeholders; building trust with clients and internal teams.
* Analytical mindset, with attention to detail and a drive for continuous improvement.
* Relevant qualifications / certifications are a plus (e.g. CISSP, CISM, Microsoft / AWS certifications, ITIL).

* Salary: £70,000 – £85,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Additional Information
* Reporting to: Director of Technology / Managing Director
* Working hours: Standard working week, with flexibility; some out-of-hours work may be required for incident management or major rollouts.
* Location: Based in the Glasgow office, with possible hybrid remote work depending on circumstances.
