Carpenter / Machinist – Traditional Hardwood Furniture
Hartlepool, North East England | Full-time, on-site
We're a family-run business with over 100 years of heritage in crafting garden furniture that lasts for generations. From schools and heritage sites to private gardens, our furniture is built by hand from the finest hardwoods (teak, oak, UK-grown sweet chestnut, and iroko) using both modern machinery and traditional joinery techniques.
We're looking for an experienced Carpenter / Machinist to join our small workshop team in Hartlepool. This is a stable, long-term role where you'll take pride in producing furniture of the very highest standard.
What you'll do:
* Build furniture from solid hardwoods using mortise and tenon joinery and other traditional techniques.
* Produce standard designs from technical drawings and occasional bespoke pieces from client sketches, collaborating directly with clients when needed.
* Maintain woodworking machinery and hand tools, keeping the workshop clean, safe, and organised.
* Apply your knowledge of hardwoods to deliver flawless, durable pieces.
* Occasionally assist with site fitting and installations.
What we're looking for:
* Fully competent in carpentry/bench joinery and machining.
* Skilled in traditional joinery with strong attention to detail.
* Practical, punctual, and honest, with a strong work ethic.
* Flexible, reliable, and confident working independently and as part of a small team.
* Full, clean driving licence.
What we offer:
* Attractive salary package (dependent on experience), paid weekly.
* 28 days annual leave (including Bank Holidays).
* Statutory sick pay, workplace pension scheme, and family leave entitlements.
* A stable, long-term role in a supportive, family-run business.
* The chance to work on meaningful projects seen across schools, gardens, heritage sites, and public spaces across the UK.
Apply today to join our workshop and be part of a team where traditional craftsmanship still matters.
