An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the team at the North Ceredigion Community Mental Health Team. Hywel Dda University Health Board is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant to join colleagues in a very dynamic and forward looking mental health service.
The successful applicant will provide clinical expertise and strategic leadership as we look to develop our mental health services to meet the population needs of Hywel Dda UHB.
To provide, with consultant colleagues (as appropriate), a service in Adult General Community Psychiatry and supporting the development of sub-speciality interest to the hospitals and community so designated with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.
Responsibilities
* Ensure the provision and delivery of a first class clinical service.
* Provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty.
* Sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate.
* Conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Health Boards service plans.
* Core clinical expertise in Adult General Psychiatry.
* Generic skills in multidisciplinary assessment and community management of acute and chronic mental health problems.
* Experience and knowledge of running a sub specialty service.
* Supporting and training multidisciplinary teams.
* Delivering care in the community alongside primary health care and social care teams.
* Addressing the Intermediate Care Agenda.
* Participating in CPD including Audit.
* Maintain good standing with Royal College for CPD.
* Maintain professional development for Revalidation.
* Educational Supervisor role to Junior and Middle Grade Medical Staff.
* Undertake regular multidisciplinary clinical audit and provide evidence based medicine.
Qualifications

* Experience and knowledge of running a sub specialty service.
* Knowledge of CPD, audit, and evidence-based medicine.
* Ability to support and train multidisciplinary teams.
Service Overview
* Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest.
* Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire.
* Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings.
* Other services: 47 general practices, dental practices (including four orthodontic), 97 community pharmacies, 43 general ophthalmic practices, 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers, and numerous mental health and learning disabilities services.
