Operations Engineer – Street Lighting
An Operations Engineer – Street Lighting to work within the Highways Service at Lancashire County Council. This is a dynamic, innovative team created from merging both construction and network services to form Lancashire Highway Services. We have demonstrated our capabilities to deliver both highway maintenance and multi-million‑pound highway infrastructure schemes. This success has gained stakeholder confidence, making us the "Provider of Choice" for Highways Services in Lancashire.
What We Are Looking For… We are seeking a Senior Lighting Engineer in West Lancashire (Preston based) with a breadth of experience in managing, designing and delivering Highway Lighting and Electrical Services. You will be a lighting professional with the industry knowledge and operational experience needed to make this role a success. You will monitor, lead and motivate a small team of lighting professionals to ensure the delivery of a high‑performance service whilst producing high‑quality works for our customers. The role requires resilience to deliver a fast‑moving, reactive service, with proactive budget monitoring and resource maximisation. Your analytical approach will utilise data to inform service delivery and improve performance. Additionally, you will deliver exceptional customer service and promote this ethos across all teams, lead the response to emergencies to ensure highways are safe, and bring political awareness to support corporate responsibilities.

Salary and Working Hours
£46,142 – £51,356 per annum | Permanent, Full‑time | 37 hours per week | Highways Street Lighting Technical Staff | Bamber Bridge, Lancashire
