Overview
Albany Lodge is seeking an experienced Band 6 Charge Nurse with skills and knowledge of working in acute mental health wards.
We will consider applications from Band 5 nurses who are ready for promotion.
Responsibilities
* Provide mental health support and care to service users experiencing a mental health crisis.
* Act as the charge nurse for the inpatient team, leading shifts and providing clinical supervision to junior staff.
* Be the primary nurse for a designated group of patients, responsible for their assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.
* Maintain confidentiality and treat patients with fairness and respect.
* Be fully involved in ward rounds, handovers and other meetings where patient care is discussed and reviewed.
* Liaise with colleagues and carers to ensure they are fully aware of all aspects of a service user’s care and treatment.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, identify care needs, plan and evaluate care plans and risk assessments, and maintain communication across departments.
* Report on progress and effectiveness to the appropriate multidisciplinary team.
* Prepare reports and act as deputy manager to junior staff, providing leadership and support.
Qualifications
* Hold an RMN/RLDN or a Dip/BSc (Hons) in Mental Health or Learning Disability Nursing.
* Have post‑registration experience at Band 5 or higher in an acute mental health setting.
* Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.
* Maintain UK professional registration.
* Have experience working in other clinical settings (desirable).
