Consultant in Gynaecology with Special Interest in Endometriosis
Applications are invited for a substantive 10 PA Consultant post in Gynaecology with special interest in Endometriosis. The successful applicant will join a friendly, motivated and dynamic department.
The Lancashire Women & Newborn Centre is an BSGE Accredited Endometriosis Centre. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our multidisciplinary team. The post includes access to robotic operating theatres and, if the successful candidate did not already have those skills there will be opportunity to develop robotic operative skills as part of the role.
The successful candidate will join 28 other substantive Obstetric and Gynaecology consultants at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. The post will be based at Burnley General Hospital, although this may be subject to change.
The applicant should have the appropriate training and experience to fulfil the requirements of this post. The role will include general gynaecology clinics. There will be no obstetrics in the role.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide inpatient and outpatient care to patients.
The appointment offers exciting opportunities for those with specific interest in endometriosis including regular joint operating sessions with colorectal colleagues. Competency in emergency gynaecological operating is an expectation of the postholder.
The exact programme activity allocation will be subject to agreement with the Clinical Director; an indicative Job Plan is included. The remaining PA’s reflect supporting professional activities. These may include teaching, audit, research and CPD.

Qualifications and Skills
Applicants should have suitable postgraduate training in Gynaecology with a demonstrated interest in Endometriosis and experience in gynaecological operating, including robotic surgery if possible. Clinical competence, leadership ability, and a commitment to teaching and research are essential.
