Keoghs is seeking a Complex Injury Paralegal to join our growing Complex Injury Team in Birmingham.
The role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in large loss and complex personal injury work, assisting a Partner on high-value, complex cases. You will undertake various file handling tasks to support a small team within our Complex Injury Claims Team. Your work will be supervised, with feedback provided as you develop your skills in this area.
Key Accountabilities
You will work as part of a team, supporting those responsible for progressing each file from receipt of papers from the insurer client to resolution of the claim. The role includes:
* Delivering performance targets and quality standards
* Preparing and serving court documents, diarising court orders and hearing dates
* Liaising with experts, counsel, insureds, and witnesses regarding conferences, JSMs, hearings, and witness summons
* Communicating with courts about hearings, applications, and consent orders
* Registering and updating CRU, notifying of settlements
* Maintaining case management records, arranging appointments, and reviewing medical and photographic evidence
* Drafting summaries, redacting documents, and fielding general queries
* Arranging payments and conducting legal research
* Ensuring compliance with SRA rules and regulations
As your competency increases, tasks will also include:
* Preparing instructions for counsel and liaising with parties to obtain evidence
* Drafting witness statements and reviewing disclosure lists
* Attending client meetings and drafting updates and complex court documents under supervision
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs grades 5 or above or A-C, with an interest in law through education (e.g., LPC, ILEX) or experience
* Understanding of the litigation process, preferably in file handling
* Strong communication skills and ability to organise and prioritise tasks
* Calm under pressure, attentive to detail, and IT literate
* A team player with flexibility and client service focus
