Job Description:
This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco where you will be responsible for the delivery of the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary remit for this position is associated with the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. Continual improvement and standardisation of associated monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems forms a core component of this role. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with relevant statutory provisions, codes of practice, good practice and industry guidelines and promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position will be based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to our offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Work with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying the hazard category, hazard, health impact, route of entry and required exposure monitoring/health surveillance program required
* Deliver occupational hygiene plan associated with exposures and health risks related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic factors including but not limited to:
* Hazardous Substance Management and associated COSHH risk assessments
* Chemical workplace exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, cement-based products, welding fume, toxic gases)
* Asbestos Management and surveys, registers, risk assessments
* Noise and Vibration Management and assessments
* Radiation management and assessments
* Thermal hazard, potable water, communicable diseases, mould, animal/insect hazards, DSE, fatigue
• Recommend and design control strategies
• Monitor and evaluate control measures (e.g., LEV/PPE/RPE testing & inspection)
• Deliver occupational hygiene training (e.g., asbestos awareness, dust procedures, PPE/RPE use)
• Conduct inspections and audits of operational sites, including support centers and NUIs, covering occupational health standards and facilities.
• Maintain calibration systems for hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
* Occupational Hygienist with BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence, or equivalent qualification
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene with knowledge of measurement techniques
* Strong drive and passion for workplace health and influencing management and staff
* Excellent communication skills for presentations and reporting
* Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work
