We are looking for a committed and experienced Education Welfare Officer, on behalf of one of our clients in the London Borough of Merton area. You will be part of their Education Inclusion team.
You will work across the area supporting schools, pupils, and families to improve attendance and ensure children receive their full entitlement to education. Specifically you will be expected to act as an Education Welfare of officer for up to 10 schools within the area.
Key responsibilities:
* Act as an EWO for up to 10 schools.
* Undertake casework relating to school absence.
* Attend meetings at schools regarding attendance.
* Give advice, guidance, and support to schools.
* Meet with parents and children to improve attendance.
* Carry out Children Missing Education (CME) work.
* Work with partners to safeguard children and promote their welfare.
* Take part in legal processes where necessary to enforce attendance.
About you:
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* Knowledge of attendance legislation and safeguarding.
* Experience working with children, families, and schools.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ, DipSW, degree in a related field)
Contract length: 3-6 months (with expectation of an ongoing extension)
Rate of Pay: £17-£22 per hour (Negotiable DOE).
Hours: Full time, 37 hours each week.
