Due to rapid business growth, an opportunity has arisen to join our friendly team based in Ufton Nervet just outside of Reading to work alongside the Draughtsman as an Architect.
The primary purpose of the role is to take concept designs for new food factory fit out projects and develop into detailed designs ready for construction, alterations and redevelopments. To facilitate client design meetings along with Oakleys internal team and use high-level drawing skills to design buildings that are functional, safe and compliant with Building Regs.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your duties will include creating building designs and highly detailed drawings both by hand and by using specialist computer-aided design (CAD) applications such as Autodesk AutoCad 2D.
* Charismatic persona to enable successful client meetings and being able to tease out client requirements.
* Liase with Oakley’s independent Building control officer to maker sure designs are compliant.
* Delivery of architectural design, assessment studies and technical documentation through all RIBA stages
* Following specifications and calculations to create various technical drawings, such as space Planning, Building Elevations, Building Plans, Electrical / Mechanical Layouts / Schematics, Fire Escape Plans, Building Location Site Plans.
* Liaising with construction professionals about the feasibility of potential projects.
* Working closely with a team of other professionals such as project managers, building service engineers, construction managers and estimators.
* Writing and presenting reports, proposals, scope of works documents and URS’s..
* Adapting plans according to circumstances and resolving any problems that may arise during construction.
* Viewing building sites, proposed locations and client meetings.
* Accommodate safety procedures and issues in installation and construction drawings
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
* Proven architect experience create designs for new construction projects, alterations and redevelopments
* Broad experience in industrial and / or process architecture
* Good all-round technical design expertise to British and international regulations and standards including Building Control requirements
* Experience of using your skills in the fit out industry
* Experienced in dealing with clients and translating practical requirements into a special design
CERTIFICATIONS
* Full driving licence
* A degree in architecture – for example, a BA or BSc Architecture
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
* Excellent design and drafting skills and proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD).
* Ability to produce clear and informative production drawings and technical information.
* Ability to draw manually, favorable, but not essential.
* Impeccable attention to detail and have sound knowledge of the discipline
