BDCFT Acute Inpatient Services have funded new roles for pharmacy technicians to work on inpatient wards. Successful candidates will:
* Administer medicines during medication rounds
* Support admission and discharge medicines reconciliation
* Provide medicines management and optimisation services to the wards
* Contribute to the physical healthcare of inpatients
The postholder will collaborate with pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, technicians, and assistants. Full training and support will be provided.
Key duties include:
* Carrying out medication administration rounds
* Screening patients on admission, liaising with GPs and healthcare providers to verify medication histories, and advising staff on discrepancies
* Providing smoking cessation advice to inpatients
* Identifying pharmaceutical issues during discharge planning and working with multidisciplinary teams to resolve them
* Dispensing and accuracy checking prescriptions
* Advising patients and carers
* Supplying stock items to dispensaries and wards
* Assessing patients' own medicines for inpatient use
* Ensuring activities comply with departmental procedures
