We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Clinical Group Management Team as a Quality & Safety Manager, playing a key role in delivering our patient safety agenda in line with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).

About the Role
As a senior member of the Clinical Group team, you will:
• Lead and support the implementation of PSIRF, ensuring proportionate, systems-based responses to patient safety incidents
• Coordinate and oversee patient safety learning responses (e.g. PSII, thematic reviews, After Action Reviews)
• Ensure learning is translated into meaningful and sustainable improvements in patient care
• Provide expert advice and guidance to clinical teams on patient safety, governance, and risk management
• Analyse complex data from incidents, complaints, claims, and audits to identify themes, trends, and risks
• Support the development of a just culture, promoting openness, psychological safety, and continuous learning
• Provide assurance to senior leadership and Board sub-committees on quality, safety, and improvement activity
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, corporate quality and safety functions, and external stakeholders to ensure high standards of care and compliance with regulatory requirements.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience in patient safety, clinical governance, or risk management within the NHS
• Understands and can apply PSIRF principles, including systems thinking and learning-focused approaches
• Has strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information and produce high-quality reports
• Is an excellent communicator, able to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
• Has experience in leading or supporting incident learning responses and quality improvement initiatives
• Demonstrates a commitment to patient-centred care, continuous improvement, and a just culture
A relevant degree is essential, and a postgraduate qualification or professional clinical background would be advantageous.
Main duties of the job
To work as an integral part of the Clinical group Management Team and support the coordination of the Clinical group’s quality, safety and risk agenda. Working with the relevant teams the post holder will ensure clinical and quality governance and risk systems and processes are in place in their Clinical group to support safer care, learning and continuous improvement.
The post-holder will support the delivery of Clinical group quality and safety initiatives providing assurance via the Clinical group Team to the Trust Executive, Board Sub-Committees and Clinical group Team Meetings. This will include ensuring the Clinical group has in place an effective system for the management of Serious Incidents and other significant issues and the implementation of their associated actions.
The post-holder will support the Clinical group Quality and Safety Advisor and provide advice and direction to frontline staff to ensure the clinical group is prepared for compliance assessments both internally and via external agencies such as the Care Quality Commission.
The role will require close working and co-operation with the Corporate Quality & Safety functions and will work in accordance with Trust directed standards for quality governance, risk management and assurance.
The role may line manage administrative and junior staff within the Clinical group’s Quality and Safety team who have a role in supporting clinical governance.
