What to Expect
As Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading the successful delivery of MSO Projects according to both the McLaren Automotive Development Process (MDP) and MSO specific processes, to main programme timings. You will be responsible for driving the other departments within MSO to a successful project status across each gateway and checkpoint. You will need to be agile and flexible to take on new projects from idea to delivery, ensuring best practice throughout.
Whilst focusing on the delivery, we are also looking for the Project Manager to act as a true Brand ambassador for MSO across McLaren's core business project teams and also the wider McLaren Group.
What You'll Do
* Where appropriate and clearly defined, line manage junior PMO members ensuring projects are run using appropriate Project Management methodology and the MDP framework.
* Be the 'go to' person for MSO Special Projects and Heritage Projects
* Create strong cross functional relationships with all teams, have the ability to create high performing teams
* Be a key link between the MSO Operational team and the central Brand and Marketing teams
* Hold the central teams to account on project deadlines
* Be the key PMO person to liaise with the MSO workshop on Heritage projects
* Manage project budgets and spend profile in line with agreed targets
* Chair Project meetings and manage all cross functional activities to meet timings
* Act as an escalation point for all project issues, containing these appropriately and managing risk
* Create and maintain detailed timing plans for complex projects, highlighting risk
* Liaise at Director/key stakeholder level
* Always have a lessons learned approach and support any necessary RCA activities.
* Create, develop and maintain processes and process adherence to ensure all projects are managed in line with business targets
* Support and manage system and component, design, release, development and validation plans in association with functional experts
* Respond to requests for information or specification change with assessment of risk and cost and ensure full documentation
* Preparation and presentation of material to support external and internal project status reviews
* Provide direction to the principle stakeholders to achieve a successful vehicle launch that supports Quality, Cost and timing targets
* Build strong working links with the core project teams, be the known person within MSO for them to contact
* Lead all activities around the McLaren Development Process ensuring adherence and sufficient preparation for all gateways
* Prepare and present weekly project status reports to the management team
What You'll Bring
* Educated to degree level in Management Engineering or Automotive Engineering desirable
* Knowledge of Program Management tools and methodologies
* Previous experience related to high complexity products and multidisciplinary job environment. Automotive experience preferable, aerospace, defence or locomotive industries also considered
* Proven track record in delivering projects and thorough understanding of automotive business model and product development process
* Critical, factual and data driven approach based on knowledge of problem solving and cause-effects analysis methodologies
* Data analysis skills and ability to summarise findings and drive conclusions
* Management of timing plans, in multi-project contexts
* Advanced level of MS Excel and proficiency in producing effective presentation and full project reporting
* Good knowledge of financial and quality metrics
