Job overview

A vacancy has become available for a clinical sister/charge nurse on the high dependency unit. This role will primarily be based within a 7 bedded high dependency area with potential of rotational work within the intensive care unit.

We are looking for a highly enthusiastic critical care nurse who is looking for the next step in their career. The successful candidate would be expected to support the educational needs of the team within the unit, working alongside management and the clinical educator team. They will be competent shift leads and be able to coordinate a level 2 critical care environment.

Main duties of the job

1. To plan, provide and evaluate skilled evidence-based care for the critically ill patient.

2. To support and develop colleagues by mentoring and assessing their skills.

3. To promote practice development within Critical Care.

4. To fulfil Local / Trust requirements in specified audit / project work.

5. Under guidance of Team Leader undertake performance and development reviews

6. shift coordination/shift leading in conjunction with /absence of Band 7 Critical Care Nurse

7. be able to communicate within a large multi-disciplinary team coordinating patient flow ensuring a safe admission and discharge process.

8. minimal 2 years working on the high dependency unit
9. experience of shift leading/managing a team
