Health Communications and Behaviour Change Officer
Local Government – Public Health Service
Part‑time | 21 hours per week (3 days x 7 hours)
3-month contract, potential extension
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced communications and engagement professional with strong knowledge of public health, health promotion, and behaviour change. You will support a major wellbeing initiative by designing and delivering targeted communications, campaigns, and engagement activity across multiple platforms.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead on internal and external communications to support public health programmes
* Create and design marketing materials using Adobe Creative Suite (print and digital)
* Develop and manage content for websites, social media channels and e‑bulletins
* Produce targeted campaigns using behaviour change principles
* Coordinate proactive and reactive media relations and PR activity
* Build effective relationships with partners across the health and voluntary sectors
* Plan and deliver engagement activities to support behaviour change objectives
* Report on social media, website and campaign analytics
* Manage multiple marketing projects from concept to delivery
* Work collaboratively with public health specialists and project leads
* Provide guidance to senior staff and partners on communications strategy and messaging
What We’re Looking For
* Strong understanding of public health, behaviour change and health promotion
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a communications or marketing role
* Fluent user of Adobe Creative Suite across Mac and PC
* Ability to create engaging content across digital and print channels
* Skilled in writing clear, accessible communications
* Confident working with media and PR activity
* Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
* Ability to manage competing deadlines and work independently
* Experience planning targeted communications within set budgets
* Degree/HND in marketing, media, communications or similar (or equivalent experience)
