Overview
Sage Counselling is a home visiting charity serving people with mobility issues. We are looking for a Trustee to join the board to help ensure we operate ethically, transparently, legally and in the best interests of our clients, counsellors, and the organisation as a whole.
What difference will you make?
We need a trustee with vision and enthusiasm to help us move forward. Trustees are responsible for ensuring we continually improve our service, operate ethically and legally, and uphold our governing policies. You will contribute ideas and experience to support the charity’s ongoing work, which has been active since 2001.
Responsibilities
* Ensure the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
* Ensure the organisation pursues its objectives as defined in its governing document and uses resources in pursuance of those objectives.
* Contribute actively to the board’s role in setting strategic direction, policy, goals, targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets.
* Support transparent governance, including sharing information publicly where appropriate, and ensuring clear succession planning using standard operating procedures for key roles.

* An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
* A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to duties as a trustee.
* Strategic vision.
* Good, independent judgement.
* Ability to think creatively.
* A willingness to speak their mind and work effectively as a team member.
* Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas: legal, finance, funding, publicity, human resources, information technology, education and learning.
Desirable
* Experience of governance.
* Experience of working with volunteers.
