Intelance is a specialist consultancy in Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, and AI. We are building a lean, senior team to stand up a new Enterprise Architecture function for a major engineering and project-delivery group in North Africa. We are looking for an experienced Integration Architect to map the current integration landscape, design clear reference integration patterns, and support our architects with pragmatic, secure integration designs for key projects.
Tasks
* Work with Enterprise, Solution, Data and Security Architects to define the client’s integration architecture baseline (interfaces, middleware, APIs, file transfers, event flows).
* Identify and document as-is integrations between core systems (e.g. ERP, project systems, engineering tools, document management, BI).
* Design target integration patterns (API-first, event-driven, ESB, point-to-point where appropriate) and document when each pattern should be used.
* Define integration principles and standards (naming, versioning, error handling, logging, security, performance).
* Support 1-2 pilot projects going through the new EA workflow with clear integration designs in their HLA/HLD.
* Collaborate with Data Architects on data flows and lineage, ensuring integrations do not break data consistency.
* Work with Security Architects to ensure authentication, authorisation, and encryption are correctly handled in integration designs.
* Provide input into non-functional requirements (resilience, throughput, monitoring, support model) for key integrations.
* Contribute integration views and documentation into the EA repository (SharePoint / diagrams / standards library).
* Advise on priorities for integration improvement (e.g. removal of brittle point-to-point links, consolidation of interfaces, monitoring gaps).
Requirements
* 7+ years’ experience in Integration Architecture, Middleware, or related roles.
* Strong experience designing and governing system integrations in complex environments (multiple line-of-business systems, legacy + cloud mix).
* Hands-on knowledge of common integration patterns (ESB, API gateway, messaging, event streaming, batch/file, ETL).
* Practical experience with at least one major integration platform or stack (e.g. Azure Integration Services, Azure API Management, MuleSoft, Boomi, Tibco, IBM, webMethods, or similar).
* Ability to produce clear integration design documents (interface specs, sequence diagrams, error handling flows).
* Understanding of security and data considerations in integration (authentication, authorisation, encryption, PII, logging).
* Comfortable working with technical and non-technical stakeholders and explaining integration options in simple terms.
* Excellent communication skills in English and comfortable working in a hybrid model (remote plus occasional on-site visits to Casablanca and/or London).
Nice to have
* Experience integrating systems in engineering, construction, energy, utilities, or other project-driven industries.
* Exposure to cloud-native integration (APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures).
* Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools used for integrations (e.g. App Insights, Splunk, ELK, etc.).
* French language skills and/or experience working with Francophone or North African clients.
* Prior experience working alongside Enterprise Architecture teams and within ARB / design authority structures.
Benefits
* Key role in defining the integration landscape and patterns for a new Enterprise Architecture capability at a major engineering and project-delivery group.
* Work in a small, senior team that values clear, pragmatic designs over heavy bureaucracy.
* Hybrid working model – remote by default, with focused on-site trips to run integration workshops and support pilot projects.
* Exposure to Intelance’s broader EA, Cybersecurity, and AI work and the opportunity to influence integration practices across clients.
* Competitive compensation with options for freelance / Ltd company engagement or longer-term collaboration.
* Direct access to Intelance leadership and the chance to help shape our integration architecture methods and accelerators.
If you are an Integration Architect who enjoys turning a tangle of point-to-point links into clear patterns, standards, and robust designs that projects can actually implement, we’d like to hear from you.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a brief introductory call, followed by a practical case discussion with the Intelance team.
